- I would think the magnetc field increases because now you have more dipoles aligned in the same direction, so they have a bigger effect on another magnet(1 vote)
- What would happen if you stick together two magnets like this:
north pole - south pole

- Aren't two magnets stronger than one because their force builds up? Their forces cannot be opposite in a stuck together arrangement, as I suspect they would repel each other if it was so.(1 vote)
- This is a very complicated question to answer. Suppose you have two similar magnets, and one magnet will lift one kilo when stuck to a flat mild steel plate. Now have two magnets side by side, The weight that can be lifted, depends on the direction of polarity, if both magnets are N/S + N/S, you will get a different result, than if they are N/S + S/N. In the former instance, the maximum weight lifted will be about 2 kilos, but there will be a dramatic increase with the second orientation. N/S + S/N and an even greater lift if a second mild steel plate is used as a sandwich. As much as 10 kilos or even more! it depends on a lot of factors. Then again, if as shown on this video, the magnets are back to back, then the maximum weight that can be lifted is unlikely to exceed 1.5 kilos. Try this at home folks, perhaps use water filled plastic bottles as weights. Science is a 'Suck-It-&-See' discipline after all. . .(1 vote)
